cable to connect iPad to external Logitech speakers ?

Hi, I have Logitech mm50 portable speakers for my iPod touch, and am wondering if I can also connect my iPad to them. Since the IPod touch actually sits on the dock mount, which the iPad obviously can't do, I was wondering if there is a suitable cable.

Take a look at the earbuds that came with the iPod. Look at the connector. You need a cable with that connector on each end. In the U.S., I'd go to "Radio Shack." You need any store that supplies general purpose computer cables.

Yo can purchase iPod/iPad/iPhone dock extender cable and thus connect your iPad to the dock. They are not in the Apple store. Just Google for iPod dock extender cable.

Thanks for your varied replies. My Google search did reveal that there are many extension cables for the iPad.

If I don't connect it to the Dock ( where there's male socket end ) can I connect it to the headphone socket ( for a 3.5 end ) ?

I use an AV cable to connect the iPad to the home theater amp or to the bedroom's powered speakers. It's a standard design, I think, the 3.5mm jack at one end and two plugs (L & R) at the other. Works fine.

Did you find a cable with a male miniplug on one end and a female 30 pin dock connector on the other?

Why not use one of the extension cables?

You might be better off trading up with Logitech and getting a device with an Aux in.

I saw so many different types of cables advertised online ( and as I live in Germany I doubled up and looked on English and German sites ) that I'm a bit confused now.

I think the best thing to do is to to take my iPad + Logitech speaker unit into a decent shop and see what fits !

My daughter has a pair of Blockbox headphones and as I was trying them out, I realised that the-detachable - cable fitted the headphone sockets on both the iPad and Logitech speaker unit.

I connected them, and was able to hear music from the ipad through the speakers.

Would this solution ( from headphone to headphone output ) be of less audio quality than attaching a cable from the 30-pin iPad socket to the Logitech headphone output ?

I wold not suspect any difference since both are analog outputs.
