Purchased (ITune) songs burned to CD-R do not play, but non-ITune play fine

Help!!! I am able to use Itunes to burn purchased (from ITunes Music store) and ripped (from store bought CD collection) songs to CD-R, but when I try to play them on any CD player (computer, car, or boom box), the first 9 songs (tracks) play fine, but when player gets to the 10th song and beyond the player just spins (tried tracks 10-18 and nothing). Songs 1-9 and 18 are from my CD collection. Songs 10-17 were purchased from Itunes and were never burned before.

I successfully used other applications (RecordNow and Windows Media Player) to burn tracks 1-9 and 18 to CD-R and these played with no problem. Would have tried to burn Itunes tracks 10-17, but do not show up on other applications. I also successfully burned purchased music from Dell and ripped music using RecordNow. All these not-Itunes songs played with no problem.

I have made sure to check to that I have Itunes set to Audio CD. I have tried burning at the default "maximum possible" and even tried it at "2X" (another post suggested that) preferred speed settings, but nothing.

I am using Memorex CD-R CD's. And the CD diagnostics does not seem to indicate anything is wrong (see below).

I keep trying different combinations, but nothing seems to be working and am running out of CD-R CD's and ITunes allowable CD burns. Any help or suggetions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

Toonz,

Thanks for the advice. I installed the upgrades and rebooted. When I tried to burn the CD things seem to be going well (burned all songs at the same rate), but when I tried to play the CD this time not one of the songs played (last time the first 9 played). I used the same combo as last time … 10 songs from my own albums and 8 purchased from Itunes. Just to make sure everything was fine, I burned 16 songs (from my own albums) on a CD. These played no problem.

I ran a CD diagnostic on both CD’s and have attached the results below. The CD witn my music was in the D drive and the one with Itunes was in the E drive.

Any other ideas? Thanks much!

Al

So, if you burn a playlist of music you've ripped locally, that worked, but a mixed playlist with purchased and locally ripped music did not, correct? What happens if you burn a playlist that is all purchased music?

Do you have a 1 or 2 processor system? (Windows Start menu -> Run. Type in "msinfo32". Hit enter or return. There on the right hand side it should list each processor.)

How much free space do you have on your C drive? (Or wherever your Temp folder is.)

Do you have sound check turned on in the iTunes preferences?

Toonz,

Here are the answers to the questions that you asked. Sorry it took me a while to answer these. Thank for all the help!

Al

What happens if you burn a playlist that is all
purchased music?

I just burned 5 purchased songs and it only played the first song. Only one of these songs had been attempted to be burned before (the first one that played). All purchased from Itunes and all played with no problem in my Ipod.

Do you have a 1 or 2 processor system?

I ran msinfo32 and I only see one processor.

How much free space do you have on your C drive? (Or
wherever your Temp folder is.)

I have 22.0 GB free
Do you have sound check turned on in the iTunes
preferences?

I have "Use Sound Check" turned on.
