Is there any easier way to update to the latest version of GarageBand?

Is there any way to update to the latest version of GarageBand without purchasing the latest iLife for $130? I created a GarageBand project on a newer Mac and I need to edit it on my Mac within the next month, but my computer won't open it. I'm planning to replace mine in the next year, so I don't want to invest more in it, but I don't know what else to do.

Any advice? I really do appreciate it.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

no one should be selling iLife '11 for $130.

you can get it for about _$48 here_ User uploaded file

and if you upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.6 you can get GarageBand alone from the App Store for $15
