Adobe Reader

How do I find out if I have an adobe reader installed on my mac?

I took a look at the Adobe site and the last adobe reader download which is from November 2010 is for Mac OSX 10.5.4 I have OSX 10.6.6 - will it work for me? If not where do I find the most current version which will work for 10.6.6?

Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Hi

+"How do I find out if I have an adobe reader installed on my mac?+"

Have a look in your Applications folder. If you don't see it there it won't be installed.

http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Click on the "select a Mac OS Version" pop up menu and select 10.5.8 - 10.6.4 from the list. OSX comes pre-installed with Preview which is Apple's own PDF Reader. IMO it's quicker than Adobe's own Reader.

Look in your Applications folder +Adobe Reader+ . Version 9.4.1 should work just fine.

Is Adobe Reader really useful, or needed, when we have a new machine with Preview pre-installed?

I have found some PDFs from time to time that don't render correctly in Preview and so require Acrobat, Reader or Pro, to view correctly. But it's certainly something you can leave alone until such time as you find a PDF that Preview doesn't display properly.
