emails in GMail/Google Apps inbox missing from iPhone Mail inbox
Lots of people have reported this issue on the web including here on Apple Support Discussions. But I could not find a confirmed solution anywhere. The previous topics here have all been archived, even though they have not been resolved, so new posts cannot be added. For example:

I have found a solution that works:
Switching the iPhone from IMAP client to Microsoft Exchange client fixes this. See instructions here: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252, found via http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/. Delete the IMAP client in iPhone Mail first. All the data is on the Google servers, so you will not lose any email.
I did this on the free version of Google Apps. Even though you have to get the paid Business version to sync Outlook desktop clients with Google Apps (via a downloadable sync app, only available for Windows - sorry Office for Mac 2011 users), it seems that the Exchange sync protocol is available for mobile mail clients even in the free version.
