Bluetooth file transfer

I know that there is lot of apps to transfer files over to other iphone, ipod or ipad devices via bluetooth , but I don't see an app that can transfer files from iphone to other smartphones like nokia, samsung etc.., I know that we cannot transfer music and videos from iphone to other mobile phones as they are in apple specific format, but atleast we should be able to transfer photos from iphone to other non iphone out there, is there an app available for that? if now why is this functionality not available inbuilt atleast for photo transfer in iphone as this is a basic functionality available even for a other lower end mobile phones?
