I recently received an iPad to use at work, and I'm able to connect to my workplace's WiFi network, but I am unable to connect to our home WiFi. The iPad detects our network and asks for the passcode. When I put in the passcode, it says that is unable to join our network. My laptop and my husband's laptop have no problem connecting to our home WiFi. Our router is a Belkin. Does anyone have any clue what I should do? Should I try contacting the router manufacturer?

iPad, iOS 4

One of the real easy things to do is to power down the Belkin, wait thirty seconds and power up again.

It must be a common trouble. I use Verizon, and often I need to turn off the modem, turn it on again, and then join my wifi. Often I need to repeat tapping on my wifi password + join process until it connects. Eventually it does.

Thanks for replying. I've tried turning off the router before, but I didn't wait 30 seconds. I will try doing the waiting.

What security setting are you using? I have heard that the iPad doesn't like WEP very much. That's good because the hackers really like WEP.

What model Belkin router do you have?

Does it have the latest firmware? Check the Belkin support web page at: Belkin Firmware Updates

What security type is being used? WEP, WPA, WPA2 (WPA2 is recommended)

If it supports 802.11n it may only implement a draft version of the 802.11n standard.

I have the same problem at home with my Uverse modem. I frequently (often several times in one session) have to go and hit "Renew Lease" in the network setting to restore it. Restarting the modem fixes the problem temporarily, but it returns pretty quick. FWIW Uverse uses WPA not WEP.

Hi, same problem here (France, Grenoble) My MacBook Pro get the wifi but not the ipad. After the choice of the network i enter the wpa then it says "unable to join the network". Everything works fine until a week ago. My adsl provider has no clue! Restart the router does not work.

That's a freebie from ATT, right? Those are junk. Get yourself a $30 router at BestBuy.

    Hi, same problem here

Clearly, it is an entirely different problem. Please start your own topic to discuss if changing the channel on your router doesn't help.

Funny. With the exception of the units running iOS, it orks fine with all my other Apple (and non-Apple) products.

I have exactly the same problem. I have identical settings on my iPhone and iPad, and I never have had to renew the lease on the iPhone, but pretty much every time I want to connect the iPad I have to renew the lease before connecting. Never any problems with my iMac or MacBook pro or the work laptop (Lenovo running Windows). Only the iPad has this problem. I use a really good router from Billion, so this is not a cheapie. Can this be anything but an iPad problem?
