Has anyone found a way to sleep the display on intel iMacs while during pla

I had posted this issue before::

http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10687594#10687594

and thought it was solved. Truly though, i could not get the screen saver to run for more than a couple of moments. I wanted to re-open the question.

THE MAIN QUESTION:

Is there a way to sleep the display in logic during song play?

The key command for sleep display works, but only for a matter of seconds.

The screen saver in "blank screen" mode works, but only for a matter of seconds.

I wanted to see if anybody had a new take on ways that i might accomplish this. Thank you

intel quad 2.8ghz imac, Mac OS X (10.6.2), motu 828 mkII, loads of plugs, outboard comps/pre's ect

Hi Data stream- the thing is- it's an intel iMac- so the only power switch is the computer itself. This puts the computer to sleep- thus stopping the program from running.

i just need the display part of it to sleep.

The reason- is because there is a very different aspect to the listening experience with and without the streaming shower of light that the screen emits. Even dulling it down to it's darkest setting- it still is quite present.

It's very nice to only be with the music, the monitors, the gear- ect. and not have to be bathed in the light. Simply turning around is one option, but it is just not the same, and the sound is different based on the design of our ears.

The cloth thing might just be the answer, although yes- the imac cools by venting at the top so i'll have to be careful.

I totally dig the eyes closed thing, but it is still a far different reality than no monitor and just the room. Eyes closed is like " i feel the computer light on my face, and am acutely aware of it", no monitor at all is almost like just having a console and no monitor.

thank you for your replies man

I agree with you Peter. People are way too reliant on visual meters to judge their mixes!

I have a hot corner set up to sleep the display on my Core i7 iMac for this exact reason.

Head to the System Preferences and go to the Exposé & Spaces pane. In the section that says Active Screen Corners, drop down the menu for one of the corners and select Put Display To Sleep. Then, when you move the cursor to that corner, it will sleep the display.
