How to DELETE a section from a clip

I have imported a clip to iMovie and there is about 20 seconds at the end of a clip that I want to completely delete. I know if I select and choose Reject Clip, it won't actually delete that section, but just hide it from view. Is there a way to select a portion of a clip and delete (or Trim as Apple uses) just that section?
I do see that it's possible to select an entire clip and CMD+Delete will actually delete and not reject a clip.
