DVCPRO/HD Codec

Where can I get this codec?

As far as I understand, it is included in Final Cut Studio. I have Quicktime Pro, which does everything I need - except that in my current scenario, I'd like to use the DVCPRO/HD codec.

Is it available as a separate download?

If not, why not? Paying for a whole package of programs for just one component is ridiculous.

Does the DVCPRO/HD codec work with Final Cut Express?

If you mean "capture to" or "render to" DVCPRO HD for editing, then no, AIC is the default "native" HD editing codec. If you mean import and/or export from/to DVCPRO HD, then yes, like most QT editing applications, FCE has access to installed components whether installed as part of the basic OS package, iMovie, FCE, or FCP.
