Bar chart that doesn't start at zero

I'm trying to develop a horizontal bar chart, similar to Gantt, but not using dates. I want the length of each bar to represent a range. Can you tell me how to set that up? Everything I've tried creates bars that go all the way to the Y axis.

Mini, Mac OS X (10.6.6), Numbers '09

NN,

Select the Stacked Horizontal Bar Chart. The firsts series will determine the start point for the display of the second series, and you will set the fill of the first series to None.

Take a look at the icon for the stacked horizontal bar chart and imagine the left segment as transparent. That should be what you are looking for.
