Iomega MiniMax 500GB Replace with 1TB??

Hello all,
I have a Iomega Minimax external 500GB usb drive. All working fine. I want to buy a Seagate 1TB SATA drive and replace the 500GB one. I've seen some other posts saying this does not work or not detected once changed. No real conclusions though.

Can anyone confirm if they have done this? The original drive is a Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA.

Not sure if Iomega put any limitations so that you need to buy a new one if you need more space.

Seems most SATA drives work. I have issues with my Airport Extreme and the new drive. No waking from sleep very well.

A mac mini with a USB 1TB samsung SATA drive works fine no problems.

Did you get to make it work? I also want to upgrade my MiniMax to a 1TB but i wanna be sure that the Seagate Barracuda 7200 is compatible.

I replaced a 500 GB Seagate Barracuda with a 1 TB Seagate Barracuda. It did NOT work. (I tested both the drives and the enclosure electronics to make sure they were functional.) Clearly, there is something in the enclosure electronics that does not allow the 1 TB drive to work.

CORRECTION: the drives can be swapped. The culprit was one of the foam pads glued on the circuit board in support of the disk drive. Two pads are glued in an "L" shape. The one parallel to the back end of the drive housing needs to be shortened by about an inch.
