Aunsoft AVCHD Video Converter for Mac

I have a Panasonic SD 700 which can shoot in a 50p mode; as FCP doesn't support this I just shoot 1080i. However I read this ad/ review for Aunsoft which suggests that I would have better results by using their software to make my 50p material ok for FCP. My instinct tells me all it's doing is converting it to 1080i.

Has anyone used this software to edit 50p material? Or can advise, eg is it converting to 1080i but using a much higher bitrate so the quality is better than the camcorders native 1080i?

You can use the 50p mode if you want. Use ClipWrap to transcode to 50p. Make a custom 50p sequence and edit in it. The only thing FCP will not do is ingest 50p using log and transfer, but you can edit the media. Don't use Aunsoft. The only thing they're good at is spamming the Internet.

Presumably, Toast 10 would also perform this task? I can't find a 50p mode in Pro Res, so it would have to be converted down to 50i and 25p would have judder? Basically it would appear that you'd end up with 50 i but with a higher bit rate, so this would be better wouldn't it?

On the SD700 1080i bitrate is 17mb/sec as opposed to 50p which is 24mb/sec

I tried Aunsoft and Clipwrap. Hard to say which is better.

But for a begginner, I think Aunsoft is more friendly to go. Moreover indeed this tool can work well for converting MTS files to pro res.

Good tools should be known by everyone who has the requirement to conevrt MTS files to pro res.

I guess Clipwrap' posting here is also a method to promote Clipwrap.

Call it what you will : Aunsoft, Aimersoft, iSkysoft, Moyea, Pavtube, Wonderhare etc its all the same or clones of the same dubious software ... but if branding the same app with a dozen different names in order to swamp the market was not bad enough, whats worse is the methods by which it is promoted ie not by unique and original recommendations by hundreds of satisfied users (as is the case with ClipWrap) but instead by seemingly openly and unashamedly employing the use of paid spammers (not genuinely satisfied users) to spread the word.

Are you a genuinely satisfied user or one of the latter "butter1093"? You who have turned up here out of the blue to add to your sparse history of posts always seemingly on this same subject ie to recommend one or other of these apps.

I have a bunch of MTS files (AVCHD format) that I am trying to get cleanly converted to AIC. I tried VoltaicHD and Aunsoft Video Converter. In my experience Aunsoft Video Converter performed much better. It was substantially faster with much better quality output. VoltaicHD had noticeable artifacts.

I have not yet tried ClipWrap.

Just a data point.
