Shooting on an IPhone tethered to a laptop

I am teaching a class this summer about photography and want to use an iPhone as an example of "the best camera is the one you have with you."

But, since the class will be fairly big, I want to project the shot images up on an lcd projector, through the laptop.

I could pony up for Aperature, but, since that software isn't really part of my workflow, it seems like a long way to go to get the results I want.

I could also get a lipstick camera and rig it up to face the screen on the iphone. Again, not optimal.

Anyone know of an app that can do this for me?

3gs, iOS 4, MacBook Pro

The biggest problem with it is that syncing and emailing are both slow. Using those methods in a workshop would eat up time and also would not be in keeping with the "instant gratification" of shooting with an iphone.

Also, I do not sync to this particular laptop and don't want to deal with changing the machine I sync to.

When I am on a photo set, I take a lot of intermediary pictures, building the shot until we get to the perfect image. It is not uncommon to shoot 10 or more frames on the way to that final shot. The delay waiting for the sync would kill me, not to mention disrupt the teaching.

Any thoughts?

Getting the photos onto a screen via a projector isn't much in keeping with instant gratification either 😉

OK - there are applications that let you connect your iPhone to the laptop and simply drag and drop photos from the phone onto the hard drive, letting you avoid the need to let a synch run. For instance, "iPhone Explorer". It's free if you want to try it out.
