Little Snitch Upload Problems?

**The following was posted on another forum**
**Maybe you can help?**

I have a IMac Core 2 Duo 3.06ghz. It runs programs such as Final Cut Pro. A few months after I got it, I started having this file upload error, where whenever I upload a photo or doc to my Yahoo Mail or Youtube or any other site, it says file upload error on each site or another canned message. However, If I try and upload something on Windows Live Mail or Facebook, I have no problems. I'm assuming because this is flash. Any ideas?

Update 1: All my software is up-to-date date. I'm using Safari. Same error in Google Chrome.
I also found some unprepared disk permissions just a few mins ago
It says in 12 pages a lot of bad permissions. They all have to do with my Airport.
I don't want to repair them though because I'm using Little Snitch on some of my files for security. I'm afraid it will mess with some of these settings.
It is crucial I have these in tact.

Update 3: BTW, I just went into software update. It can't check updates because of a "network problem". I never had this error before. Any ideas?

Update 4: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2394357&tstart=0
Will the tips in this thread disable my little snitch?

Thanks so much!

Just for general information, these are user to user forums, so until someone sees your post who has some actual information, it may take a while for someone to respond.

If you have a problem with permissions, you should repair those. I don't know why you'd think it would mess up things - repairing permissions fixes them.

I don't use Little Snitch, but I would suspect that you have a setting there that is preventing your uploads as well as your communication with the Apple server. Hopefully someone using that app will chime in here on that.

So, until someone using Little Snitch can chime in, I would suggest you try turning it off for a short while; repairing your permissions, and then try to upload your videos. If it works, then you'll know the culprit and will need to adjust some settings there. If it doesn't, at least we've eliminated it as a source of the problem.

Hi,

I don't want to repair them though because I'm using Little Snitch on some of my files for security.

LittleSnitch is probably the source of all the problems.

Check out the results of a Safari forum search for LittleSnitch I just did.

Uninstall LittleSnitch following the instructions here. http://www.obdev.at/technotes/uninstall-little-snitch.html

You don't need third party software for security.

You don't use Little Snitch for files. It restricts applications. If you think Little Snitch is the source of the problem, then disable it. If things start working normally at that point, then you have found the problem.

Little Snitch will allow you to back your rules and restore the factory default set of rules. If you determine that Little Snitch is involved, that would be my suggestion.

Little Snitch is a very handy tool for giving you control of who your computer talks to. I've used it for years with no problems.

The solution is Little Snitch. If you think that is the source of the problem, turn it off and see. If it is, it is just misconfigured. Restore it to factory defaults and it will be fine.

No, the Mac's built in firewall cannot perform the same tasks.

Did you turn off or disable LS as suggested? And then tried Software Update?

I can't help with LS settings because I've never used it; however, you need to first see/confirm that LS is causing the problems and you can't do that unless you turn it off. Then repair permissions again. Then restart. And then see if Software Update is now working. If it is, and you have to have LS, then get used to turning it off every time you want to download something and/or change the settings.
