The Brother printer just needs to know this info to join your wireless network.
The SSID is the name you assigned your wireless network.
The Encryption key is just the password you assigned to join the network. Also the type of security ie, WEP or WPA.
These are all values you set in your router when you set up the network.

Thanks, Captfred. I don't know why they don't just say it's the name of your network and the password! It was a piece of cake. I recognized my network in the list that came up, and it was already highlighted. I suspected it was just the network name and password, but the manual makes it sound much more complicated. I'm setup and just printed my first doc. I love it when things just work.
