These messages are a constant flow in Terminal, 1-10 per second, very few seconds.

I don't know, but I've got the same issue with my Seagate GoFlex Desk (2Tb). I suspect it began when I installed the Seagate Diagnostics, which, in turn was supposed to allow the HD to stay awake on Macs... Folks had been reporting the HD falling into a sleep mode on it's own...

Now it appears that the Diagnostics "fix" keeps the drive awake by running some kind of diagnostic (every minute on my iMac G5)...

The biggest problem I'm having right now, is that after five minutes of sleep (directed by me), the Segate HD sends some kind of signal to my iMac, waking it up. Don't know if it's a result of the above 'fix'.

I sent an email with the Console's System Log showing the abnormality to Seagate... We'll see if they can fix this... If not, this Seagate will be going back to Costco...

For what it's worth, I've been 'experimenting' with a Seagate Free Agent, 500Gb external HD, (small portable type) and it does not exhibit the same problems that the 2Tb HD has... The little one is formatted Mac OS Extended (journaled), just as the big one is...

I deleted all references to Seagate Diagnostics, Seagate Storage Gauge, and Seagate Storage Driver applications and files...

I no longer get the log messages we had been receiving; however, the 2.0Tb HD now wakes up my computer after about a minute of sleeping...

I've still got to analyze the wake-up Console Log (below). Also, an "Improper Device Removal" message is displayed about every 10 minutes or so:

If you launch the Diagnostics installer and go to Files > Show files, you can see what files are installed.
I deleted all the files and it seems to have cleared it up.
There is also a file in System > Library > Launch daemons. You have to restart after you remove this file.

Thanks for the tip about seeing what files are installed... I had no idea that could be done.

I, indeed, missed the file in the Launch Daemons folder...

Alas, with everything cleaned out, my Seagate still wakes up my Mac after a minute of sleep... Seems like my Mac thinks the Seagate unmounts, which wakes things up... On the other hand, the irritating log behavior has ceased...

If I don't hear back from Seagate by Monday, this drive will be headed back to Costco... Too bad, since the price was darn good for this critter...

You HD isn't causing your Mac to wake, eh?

I just installed the Diagnostics software for the same Seagate 2 TB EHD that I set up yesterday because I was also getting the "Disk has been improperly ejected" message every time the EHD powered down, but after I installed and did a restart my iMac wouldn't start up. It stayed on the blue screen of death. After an hour of turning it off and on again with no luck I tried rebooting in safe mode and couldn't enter my password with my wireless keyboard. It was like it wasn't connected. I finally gave up because it was after midnight. I hope I can figure it out in the morning. I guess I need to find a wired keyboard to get my iMac booted up in safe mode so I can get that software uninstalled.

Is anyone using the FireWire adaptor instead of USB? That's what I'm using and all was fine when I first set it up. It even backed up 200 gigs of stuff on my EHD using Time Machine in just an hour and forty minutes. Until that "disk improperly ejected" warning popped up, I thought all was well.

I got my EHD and FW adaptor from Amazon so I really don't want to have to return it. I hope there's a fix.

I'm having the startup issue with endless console messages but no issues with waking from sleep or unmounting - one is attached via USB and the other via FW800.

I am having the same blue screen problem, even when I have disconnected the GoFlex. I don't know what this hard-drive did to my computer, but I hope there is an answer to fix the start-up blue screen. I have never been able to get my GoFlex to save my data through time machine or by drag-&-drop.
