I am having trouble doing multiple keyword searches in aperture. Say for instance I tagged a photo with the word "Bob" and then with the word "Park". If I search for just Bob or just Park, I get all photos tagged with one or the other keyword. But if type into the keyword search bar: Bob, Park. No photos come up. I have tried several different ways of searching keywords. Anyone having the same problem or know how to fix it?
Then you have something else set in the HUD that is preventing the images from showing up or you have no images in the project you are searching in that have that combination of keywords.
Here is what my HUD looks like:
-------------------
Include if "all" of the following "match": (search bar)
(unchecked) Rating
(unchecked) Calendar
(unchecked) Keywords
(unchecked) Import Session
(unchecked) Include stack picks only (New Smart Album) (New Album With Current Images)
--------------------
Please also note that I am using version 2.1.4.
I know that I have tagged my one of my photos with both keywords.
Sorry, didn't notice the 2.1.4. In 3 the HUD lists the keywords and you check the ones you are looking and also what combination (all, any, etc). How do you specify the keywords in 2?
Looking at the Aperture 2 manual it appears as if the Filter HUD is similar to 3's. You select keywords to search for by adding the keywords from the drop down located at the top right of the HUD and then select the keywords you want to search for.
In your first post you mentioned something about typing in the keywords in the search box, thats not how you search for keywords. Use the keyword check boxes.
I have thousands of keywords. To go through them and check the few that I need would take forever. If I type 1 keyword in the search bar, it works just fine. In aperture 2 manual on page 302, it says you can search for multiple keywords that way. It says "You can enter multiple text items, separating them by commas. Aperture locates any images that have a match for all the text items." That is what I want to do and I use to be able to do it when I first got Aperture 2, but now I can't.
Aperture 3's manual says the same thing but its never worked in 3 so I don't suppose it worked in 2.
There are two workarounds. One is to use the actual keyword search term. They are in alphabetical order so finding a few in a list of thousands while tiring isn't impossible.
The second workaround would be to create a second text search field and put one term in each field and set
all at the top of the HUD. That works in 3.
The same is written in the [Aperture3 User Manual|http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter =14%26section=7%26tasks=true]; it doesn't work in Ap3 either. (The comma seems to be taken a literal character, not as a separator.)
Ap3 lets one add additional filter rules, so that one could have two Text rules. (I never used Ap2.)
Ap3 limits the keyword list to those keywords present in the currently selected container(s). So to at least check what you are doing --
if Ap2 does the same -- select or filter to a number of images with just a handful of keywords total, and see what you find out.
