Cannot see imported iphoto library

I just installed the app store version of aperture. I imported my iphoto library as instructed in the demo video and with the instruction to keep the images stored in theor current location. When I go to projects the the images do not show up. Event names, dates, albums names etc show up in the previews but no images when I click on a project ( event ) I get empty boxes displaying the image names, etc. If I go back to IPhoto I can see and work on everything just fine. How can I correct this?
