I just recorded a short song on my computer using my built in camera on iMovie, and as the file is massive and I wanna put it on youtube I need to compress it...I thought that was done by exporting it into an avi format but iMovie won't let me do it- all the options under the Share menu are grayed out...can anyone help me please?
Just SHARE the file to iTunes, to the Media Browser, or using SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE to the location of your choice. Then upload this file to YouTube. It will be an h.264 file. YouTube will take any h.264 file up to 15 minutes.
I would recommend uploading through the YouTube website, but iMovie 08 has a YouTube option that might still work, although it may keep you to lower resolutions and shorter times than YouTube currently supports.
Well therein lies the very problem...it won't let me share anything. The SHARE menu is all grayed out, none of the options work. What am I doing wrong? I just recorded a video is all, and made no changes. I'm confused.
Hmmmm.
When you record your video through the iSight camera, it would go into an Event.
You need to drag the clips that you want into a Project before the Share menu would be active.
