Feb 4, 2011 8:02 AM in response to Toothdustrby paulcb,You can send/receive texts with Cellular Data off. The only way to shut off texting is to turn on Airplane Mode. You can turn Airplane Mode On and then turn wifi back On, while still leaving Airplane mode On. -

You CAN receive texts with cellular data off. Text messaging was implemented long before the current data networks were put in place. -

GSM does predate it. -
