Tiger or Snow Leopard?

I am running this question through my head over and over.

Reason being, after purchasing Snow Leopard to upgrade from 10.4 Tiger, and running a clean install, there is the most annoying graphics glitch that interferes with anything I do,,,even after all the updates.

I have a Macbook Pro 2.16 Intel Core Duo (2006), and I am now currently running Tiger, having gone back to the dated OS that runs great as far as no graphics glitch, but it isn't as efficient as Snow Leopard with programs, not to mention I can't run many programs on the dated 10.4.

What can I do to fix SL on my computer? Obviously I would prefer to be running off that if I can. I'm wondering if an Archive & Install will benefit me with anything?

Any suggestions at all are appreciated, thanks,

Macbook Pro

Yes, you should try running AHT to rule out a hardware issue. But, although you don't go into detail, I suspect you have the same problem with Snow Leopard that I've had, for which there currently appears to be no solution.

I also upgraded to Snow Leopard but gave up and went back to 10.4 after a month after trying clean installs and various fixes, which included bringing my computer into a shop, only to have them tell me there was nothing wrong. I ran AHT, by the way, and it also found no problems. My computer works just great running on 10.4.

It has been suggested elsewhere in Apple Discussions that 10.6.7, now being tested by developers, will address our problem, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm certainly not going to waste any more time on Snow Leopard unless I know it will work on my computer. And I think it's misleading for Apple to continue to state Snow Leopard will work on iMacs such as mine. Technically, it does run, but not without problems.

to anyone following,
concerning graphics glitches while running OS X 10.6.6

after a AHT screening, it came back with the results of 4MOT/1/40000000: 'TCOP'
this reads as an issue with the left fan, and the sensor (not sure if this is always the case with folks with graphics issues). BUT, this is also the area that the Graphics Processor Unit (GPU) is held on the logic board. It is a possibility that my GPU is unable to perform under the required higher taxing processes from Snow Leopard, whether it is damaged, OR...

apparently regardless to the condition of the GPU, it also is possible that the graphics glitches simply can occur on earlier models, I got my Macbook Pro in Sept. 2006, and my dated GPU along with it can't keep up. Nevertheless, at this point, it has to be a hardware problem.
