Wired Keyboard and Mouse Not working

My Wife just called and told me that the mouse and keyboard are not responding and the screen says that it is searching for a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but the only one i have is a USB one. She told me that my Wacom Tablet works.

What could have happened. What do i need to do to get my keyboard and mouse recognized again.

I'd recommend rebooting the computer and while she is at it to do a SMC reset. Here are the instructions:

*SMC RESET*

• Shut down the computer.
• Unplug the computer's power cord _and all peripherals including the keyboard and mouse_
• Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
• Release the power button.
• Attach the computers power cable and keyboard and mouse.
• Press the power button to turn on the computer.
