Motion JPEG codec

I have several videos that are made with the motion jpeg codec .avi that I need to edit. When I import them into FCP the timing is altered and the videos is freeze framed in parts of the clip. Any suggestions on what I can do?

Open a MJPEG file in QuickTime
type Cmnd-I to open the Inspector window
in the Format area note the image dimensions and whether or not there is a different dimension inside of parenthesis

When you export your file from MPEG-streamclip make sure you match these dimensions (numbers inside parenthesis over ride those outside the parenthesis), change to Custom if necessary.

You should also make a note of the frame rate (FPS) and let us know if it's not a broadcast frame rate.

Thank you so much for your help User uploaded file What I have ended up doing was using compressor to export as an mov and then putting the video into fcp to edit. i noticed that when the mjpeg video is played on a pc the total time is 2 min but as soon as I put the video on my mac it speeds up by 66% so now the video is only 1 min 20 seconds long. i have over 100 of these clips to edit and the only thing i can think to do is to change the speed by 66 % before i edit. mpeg stream clip distorts the video so badly so i can't use that to edit and quicktime won't open them. has anyone else ever seen this or have a solution?

thanks again
