Removing HP Printer Drivers

Hello all,

When I got my 11-inch 128GB MBA, the first thing I did was wipe the drive and reinstall OS X to customize what's installed in it. I did not install any of the printer drivers. I had to download and install the HP Printer Drivers from Apple to use the HP printers at home and in the office. Problem is there was no way to just install the drivers I needed. It installed ALL the HP drivers from the package. So, after I setup all my HP printers, how do I remove the drivers I don't need? Thanks!

Since I don't have HP printers I'm not sure what is installed. If all you find are files named for a printer model you don't use, then I would presume they can be removed. But since I cannot tell you definitively what's safe, I suggest you make a new folder on the Desktop and put what you would think to delete in there. If nothing bad happens then they are safe to delete. If there's a problem then you can return them to their proper folder.

As an alternative you could remove/uninstall all the HP stuff. Delete your printers in Print & Fax. Restart the computer then Add a printer. OS X should then download to your computer the printer driver software required for that printer. This is what it normally does if you install OS X with the option to just install for connected printers. When I've done this on my installations the driver for my Lexmark printer is installed and the printer automatically added. Same for my Epson scanner.
