It is the wireless magic mouse, and I am using a mouse pad.
It is very strange i will being moving my mouse then it teleports across the screen.
Or if i am drawing a line it will just jump. I have tried to different mice and it work fine on my Imac...
Not so much on my new computer.
I did read that had something to with have a second monitor hooked up but i had two monitors on my Imac no problems...
Should i hook the second monitor up using the mini displayport?

thanks

My Magic Mouse also jumps around on my MacPro 16-Core.
It works fine on my MacBook Pro. The problem disappears when I disconnect my second Monitor from the Display Port.
The strange thing is, if I start my MacPro with Windows7 via Bootcamp, the Magic Mouse works just fine, even with two monitors.

I really need help on this one, because I depend on my second Monitor.
BTW a Mighty Mouse (with wire) works just fine.

I can confirm the problem. Happens in one of the osx user profiles (iMac11,1). No problems in windows, no problems in on a different user profile. No lag of cpu lag as it happens even at about 2% cpu load.

As well using the mini display port together with the apple dvi adapter. I read an article describing the problem and claiming it is a problem of monitor firmware and mini display port and 4850 and 10bit color management.
Though the article was confused and unfinished, so I would not bet on the quality of it. Even more as I am using a plain old samsang (226BW iirc) which does not wide gamut at all.

The solution that worked for me (HD 5770, Mac Pro) was to connect the second monitor via an ACTIVE single link MDP to DVI adapter. Tried before with a passive one and had my mouse pointer jumping. You can get AMD certified adapters for Eyefinity ( http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx) - those are all active ones. The dongles sold by Apple are passive adapters except for the really expensive dual link adapter.

Just buy a 3rd party ACTIVE adapter (e.g. the Accell B087B-006B) and everything will go back to normal.

Now my mouse is smooth again with dual display setup!

it was happening to me sporadically, magic mouse started jumping when i was lifting it off the ground.

first i blamed the teleport app, then magicprefs, turned both off, still same issue.

after trying everything i just moved the box with the bluetooth module closer to my desktop (was about 2.5m away), et voila. works like a charm! 🙂

so theres a good chance of bluetooth interference as well with some of these issues.

My cursor used to jump suddenly to corners of my screen and invoke Expose at the least expected moments. It was quite annoying. I finally realized that my problem was likely caused by dust, which I thought optial mice were immune to. Every time I lift the mouse or make other slight movement it seemed to randomly trigger the problem. I wiped my desk surface clean, shook the mouse rigorously and used compressed air and cleaning wipe. There were quite some debris falling off the device than my dandruff. The intensive cleaning seems to have done the trick. After the cleaning I only noticed slight unexpected movement very rarely, which I am attributing to not having a proper mouse pad. In fact I don't have mouse pad at all.

I suspect that when people buying a new mouse and declaring an end of their ordeal, they were really just getting a cleaner mouse, not necessarily a better one.
