Q: White Itunes Store Page

When I open the iTunes Store, it will begin to open properly. Then, it begins to slow down, and right before it is entirely loaded the entire store will turn white! It doesn't say "unable to connect" or anything of that nature. it's just a white screen. This has never happened before, I don't know what to do. A resolution to this problem is of course greatly appreciated.

Get out of the white store screen.

Then  try going into itunes menu > edit >  preferences > Parental.

Disable the itunes store, then click OK.

Then go back and undo the changes, click OK.

Now try to load the store again. It has surprisingly worked for quite a few folks.

I'm having the same problem as of this morning.

One unusual thing I encountered was iTunes asked me to login when I started the application this morning.

I have the latest version (10.4) so updating doesn't work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling which didn't work either.

I can search and find things. The tabs are sometimes visible but still can't access iTunes home or App Store.

Just a note to say I resolved my problem by completely removing everything relating to iTunes and Apple and reinstalling iTunes after a reboot. The iTunes store returned to it's normal functionality.

This seemed to work for me:

1- Uninstall the old version of itunes you have (or just uninstall iTunes if you are already running 10.4.0.80

    2- Uninstall Quicktime also

    3- Uninstall Apple software update

4- Uninstall Apple mobile device support

    5- Uninstall Bonjour

    6- Uninstall Apple application support

(I would shutdown wait 20 seconds then fire up the computer at this point and then come back and install itunes)

    7- Reinstall iTunes 10.4.0.80

Apple Tech said you HAVE to uninstall in this order. After I did this, the App Store started working correctly.

I tried the "6-steps" sequence of uninstalling the Apple-related program one by one and reinstall iTune 10.5 but still doesn't work.  Having said that, this method helps to syn my iphone (after upgrade to IOS5) again but still can't access the iTune store or my previous purchase.  Any ideas?

Found the solution offered by rodfromnewark and it did help! Thank God!

    Try this:

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15932930#15932930

Go to Start-> Programs -> Accessories -> (Right Click On Command Prompt) ->select “Run as Administrator”.

Then type in: netsh winsock reset > hit enter > restart PC.

Once PC has restarted try opening itunes again and this should enable you to do so.

    His method saved my life!

Thank you so much. I too have searched for about 2 weeks for a solution and the tip by Tan11 absolutely worked. In addition, I had been having trouble backing up my Iphone and updating it to the latest Iphone software. After the fix for the Itunes store - my Backup ran in seconds and the upgrade of Iphone software happened as well.

I had this problem and finally solved it by getting rid of a piece of adware/spyware called Speedbit video Accellerator.  It interfered with iTunes and blocked the store page opening all the way.

so all we want to do is to obtain some neat stuff from Apple and we have to go and jump through all of these hoops to get it to work again? Where is Apple when we need them? Hello, Apple, are you there??? The tips on the Apple Help site were worthless. Thank you so much to the community who are trying to help eachother!

I don't want to lose my whole library by uninstalling it. I'll have to try to figure out what to do.

It's a huge problem. If you look at ONLY the people who have made comments and think about all of the people out there just reading these pages looking for the answer that don't comment, plus people posting on other websites to try to get help......

Last night I uninstalled EVERYTHING per Apple, reinstalled everything including QuickTime which I'll never know why if iTunes needs it it's not part of the download..... so I installed QuickTime, restarted computer at appropriate time, uncheck parental control itunes, hit ok, go back undo, restart and NOTHING. - I'm telling you I've spent more than 7 hours searching for solutions over the last 3 days trying everything I can find online to no avail UNTIL TODAY!

Today I click on iTunes and a message pops up that says Bonjour is disabled. I never disabled it and even went so far to follow instructions below to make sure Windows Firewall made an exception to accept Bonjour in case the Firewall was blocking it.

So I follow instructions on the popup message that told me it was disabled: START>CONTROL PANEL>ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS>SERVICES>   I'm pretty sure that was all the instruction I got on the popup so I winged the rest. The SERVICES screen listed hundreds of SERVICES. I noticed BONJOUR. I clicked BONJOUR. Notice RIGHT SIDE of screen says BONJOUR SERVICES. Options: STOP the service, RESTART the service. I chose to RESTART the service and THAT'S WHAT FINALLY WORKED FOR ME!

Here's instructions per a website of what I tried before getting pop up this morning:

Using QuickTime in Windows - Firewall

    Troubleshooting QuickTime and Windows Firewall

QuickTime streaming can be affected by firewalls on personal computers. If you suspect that your firewall is preventing access to streaming clips, use the QuickTime Preferences to set the transport to HTTP using port 80. This should solve most firewall issues.

Firewalls and QuickTime Streaming Media Ports

QuickTime streams are typically transported via the RTP/RTSP protocol, but many firewalls (including the Windows XP Service Pack 2 firewall) block these protocols. Should you wish to open your firewall to the RTP/RTSP protocols, you need to do the following:

    • Open port 554 for RTSP/TCP data
    • Open ports 6970 through 6999 (inclusive) for RTP/UDP data.

These ports settings can be changed in 'Control Panel > Security Center':

    • At the bottom of this dialogue box, select 'Windows Firewall' from the 'Manage Security Settings'.
    • Click on the 'Exceptions' tab, and continue to select 'Add Port'. Proceed to add the ports and port information specific to QuickTime that is listed above.

If your QuickTime has already been updated, port settings implemented, and you are still having streaming issues when using QuickTime, please try the following:

    Windows Firewall - Fix A

Alternatively, you can grant the QuickTime player an exception, but media embedded in browsers will still encounter problems and must be granted a similar exception.

To allow QuickTime to play within the firewall:

    • From the Start menu, select Control Panel.
    • In the Control Panel, find and double click the icon for the 'Security Center'. In the 'Security Center', under 'Manage Security Settings': select 'Windows Firewall' on the bottom.
    • Find and Select the 'Exceptions' tab. If QuickTime is present, check it. If not, you can add the program to the exceptions list.
    • To add to the exceptions list: Within 'Exceptions', find and select the 'Add Programs' button near the bottom of the window. In the scroll window, browse to 'QuickTime Player' and select 'OK'. This adds QuickTime Player as an acceptable application and an exception to some firewall settings. Remember - if QuickTime is being used within a browser, the browser must be added as an exception as well.
    • To exit and complete, select 'OK' in the 'Windows Firewall' window.

    Windows Firewall - Fix B

    • From the Start menu, select Control Panel.
    • In the Control Panel, find and double click the icon for the 'QuickTime'.
    • From the top drop-down menu in the QuickTime control panel, select 'Streaming Transport'
    • Change the radio button selection to 'Use this Protocol an Port ID', and verify that the subsequent selection is 'Use HTTP Port: 80'.
    • Select 'OK'

    Additional Help

If you are still having trouble viewing QuickTime video after executing the above step, please email ccnmtl@columbia.edu. Please include your Windows system version, your QuickTime version, and the CCNMTL application that you are using.
