Feb 8, 2011 11:25 PM in response to D_LAW12by m80,To those of you that downloaded the upgrade, are all your playlists and music still there? -
Feb 9, 2011 3:56 AM in response to D_LAW12by ThePaulMaster,I have the same problem. *I've even tried the downloading the updates solution, but it didn't help.* It's funny how so many people have the exact same problem and itunes is refusing to give any answers! -
Feb 9, 2011 7:08 AM in response to D_LAW12by Sel_L,I'm having the same problem as everyone else also. Starts loading and then goes white .... grrr ... very frustrating, I hope Apple fix this problem soon! -
Feb 9, 2011 8:49 AM in response to D_LAW12by applehiddenexpert19,Most of the time with itunes not connecting to the apple store just updating resolved the issue
You can update by going to help-> then check for updates and it will let you know if you need one
But after sometime the itunes will eventually stop connecting to the home page because the servers can no longer connect .
Let me know if this helps anyone -
Feb 9, 2011 9:10 PM in response to D_LAW12by carkel,I have had the same problem for several days now. I have tried to repair I Tunes on my computer. I have just decided to wait and see how long it takes for I tunes to realize they have a problem and fix it. Seems in the past when I have had trouble, it ended up finally being fixed by Apple as it was always their problem. At least I can still connect my I pod and download new music from CD's I own, just can't connect to the store. -
Feb 9, 2011 10:18 PM in response to D_LAW12by mcgeek2,I just learned what this is all about. I started having this exact same problem on both my computers the same day it began with everyone else, Feb 4th. Apple Support finally told me after many emails back and forth that "*the iTunes Store is no longer compatible with iTunes 9.1*" and that I had no choice but to upgrade to v10. In other words, this isn't a bug or an oversight --- this is an intentional incompatibility they programmed into the store last week. Those of us who were hoping Apple will "figure it out and fix it eventually" are going to be waiting for a long time. Forever, in my case. Because the last time I tried updating from 9.1 it literally destroyed my entire 500GB library, and after days of frustration restoring it from my backup and back-installing 9.1 again, I swore I would never do it again. Now they're saying I HAVE to upgrade or they won't let me buy - or even see - their products? Sorry, but I'm no longer compatible with Apple.
It looks like you have just two choices if you're getting this white screen on the store: you can either update and risk blowing up your entire library, or you can join me and take your money to Amazon and eMusic, where the downloads are a lot cheaper and they still work beautifully with all versions of iTunes. Gotta love THAT little irony -- Apple is the only music store that won't work with Apple software. Brilliant. -
Feb 10, 2011 1:07 AM in response to mcgeek2by Martin_C100,Surely if this is an intentional incompatibility, there would be an error message shown that said so, and suggested that the solution is to upgrade. It doesn't make sense to me, that a company famed for their user interface experience would expect the average user to see a blank page and either decide that means they need to upgrade iTunes or think about visiting this discussion thread.
If it was intentional, what would be the advantage in locking out thousands of users from the store? I can see that it's advantageous to Apple to have everyone on the same version, but at the cost of lost music and video sales? -
Feb 10, 2011 6:36 AM in response to mcgeek2by MrTax,Upgrade iTunes to 10.1.2 is not the great fix. REPEAR the repo of appstore is the right FIX! APPLE DO IT! PLS! -
Feb 10, 2011 6:59 AM in response to D_LAW12by carkel,Apple has folks where they want them. They tout their great products and one after another fail. I am hesitant to upgrade to gain access to their store because I have had trouble in the past with upgrades that took time to resolve. I think Apple really doesn't care about their clients as much as they do their bottom line. I also have lots of music on my ipod that I do not want to risk losing because of an upgrade and from some posts I see this has been a problem. You want me to buy from the store, fix the problem. -
Feb 10, 2011 10:33 AM in response to D_LAW12by DonkeyDavies,When a new version of iTunes is available, I get a dialog box asking me whether I want to download the new version - i.e. I have the choice whether to or not. Not only that, but there is a tick box which offers the option never to see future updates! So if Apple allows me NOT to update, then by default that suggests that I WILL NEVER HAVE TO. As per previous post, I'm not prepared to upgrade my version of iTunes. If Apple isn't going to resolve this, then I am happy to buy elsewhere. But what are the chances of getting a refund of the balance that is sitting on my account????? COME ON APPLE - DO THE RIGHT THING - YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE. -
Feb 10, 2011 12:35 PM in response to Jynrahby Cabmerlot,Have the same problemStarts to load and then it ''white pages' - haven't had a problem before.Help please! -
Feb 10, 2011 1:15 PM in response to D_LAW12by DonkeyDavies,You've only got 3 options:-
1. Upgrade to version 10 - with all the trauma that might entail.
2. Wait for Apple to relealise what a ****-up they've made.
3. Ditch Apple and go elsewhere.
Option 3 is becoming more viable as time passes. -
Feb 10, 2011 2:52 PM in response to D_LAW12by desanity,I thought I was the only one this was happening to. I really don't want to upgrade though because I hear nothing but bad things when people upgrade their Itunes. -
Feb 10, 2011 3:09 PM in response to D_LAW12by desanity,Decided to upgrade to version 10 and all of my music and purchases are still intact. Also, the Itunes store is working again. Yes! -
