Feb 11, 2011 6:33 AM in response to D_LAW12by tsprung,The solution isn't going to make most of you happy, but here I go. Say goodbye to your lovely old version of itunes, and cave into upgrading to the 10.1.2 version. I feel your pain that you don't like change, and Apple has had problems in the past with upgrades, but for WHATEVER REASON, the old version doesn't want to access the itunes store properly. Once I upgraded to the 10.1.2 version, I was able to purchase music and access the store just fine. As frustrating as it is, it's inevitable and worth it to purchase music. Happy downloading everyone! Apple, you are a pain.

Feb 11, 2011 6:37 AM in response to tsprungby Lee00336,Do you still have your music library because some people say their music library has been destroyed when they upgrade to 10.

Feb 11, 2011 6:54 AM in response to D_LAW12by tsprung,So far, so good. Didn't lose my library, but you gotta wait for the new version to finish installing after you restart your computer following the download. -
Feb 11, 2011 7:08 AM in response to tsprungby Lee00336,OK, I'm @ work right now. I'll go home tonight & try it. I'm going to be mad if I lose my entire library & Apple will hear about. But thanks for your input on this matter. It seem to me this happened a while ago & Apple fixed it so you didn't have to upgrade, but now, I don't know.

Feb 11, 2011 7:12 AM in response to D_LAW12by tsprung,My only advice is be patient. ONLY have the itunes application open and running during the download. Don't try to screw around with other things on the computer. Then immediately restart your computer when it prompts you to. Don't try to rush it. Good luck! -
Feb 11, 2011 7:18 AM in response to D_LAW12by et3et,Why isn't anyone from Apple answering this issue? It's been like this for over a week. How can we buy things when we can't even see them? -

Feb 11, 2011 10:31 AM in response to D_LAW12by makenzi99,I am having the exact same problem, as soon as it is almost finished loading it goes to a blank white screen and it is very frustrating. However, I can get to the iTune U tab just fine. Please help. -
Feb 11, 2011 3:09 PM in response to D_LAW12by jodonnell2,I also cannot access the I Tunes store. It appears to start downloading, it quickly flashes the I-Tunes store page (for a nanosecond), then I get the white screen. Does anyone know what is wrong or what to do? -
Feb 11, 2011 3:37 PM in response to jodonnell2by Lee00336,Yes, you have to do what tsprung said to do; you have to upgrade to your iTunes. I did this just now. I also upgraded my QuickTime Player & my Voiceover for my Nano. It took forever for me because I have DSL, but it worked. I did not have to restart my computer, but when I got back in iTunes, it said that it was updating my library. I was worried that meant everything would be gone, but it's all good; it's all still there & I can get in the store again. Whew!!

Feb 11, 2011 4:25 PM in response to m80by Bassplyr,Having experienced the same 'White page' symptom as most of the discussions here, I backed up my past purchases, held my breath, and downloaded the current version. The probem was resolved and it did not affect my library. I once again have access to the store. -
Feb 12, 2011 12:07 PM in response to D_LAW12by wherestynan,I ,like many others on 4th Feb had white page when trying to enter itunes store after 3 days exchanging emails with Apple it was obvious they wanted me to update to the new version of itunes. Reluctantly i did this and it all worked out altough i was unhappy with the style of the new version I thought id have to accept the change. However a few days later I was e mailed by Apple telling me I could re download the older version again if i wished. I haven't done so as I'm not to sure if this is correct, has anyone else has had a similar experience ? -
Feb 12, 2011 1:36 PM in response to wherestynanby mcgeek2,Yes - I had the exact same experience when iTunes 9.2 was first released, except I went back to iTunes 9.1 because the new version pretty much destroyed my entire 500GB library (there is a functionality in version 9.2 and the new v10 that forces your library to be completely re-written, which makes it extremely unstable and problematic. Even when the install works, like it did on my other computer, it would no longer show artwork from hundreds of audiobooks I got from Audible and other stores, etc, and it changes a number of features and functions that power users of the old version have come to rely on, so it's a nightmare either way). Anyway, I re-downloaded the old iTunes (which you can find by Googleing "iTunes 9.1 for Windows" or whatever; there are lots of sites that have every version going back to the stone age), restored my old library from backup (which you HAVE to do when going backwards from a new iTunes install, because anything after v9.2 rewrites your library so it won't work with your old iTunes), and I have been happy as a clam with my good old reliable v9.1 ever since. Until Feb 4th, that is, when they reprogrammed the iTunes store to be incompatible with older iTunes.
So you CAN definitely go back to an older version provided you have saved a backup of your old library from your previous iTunes version. But remember --- you still will not be able to access the iTunes store, at least not until Apple decides to make the store backwards-compatible again. But it's really not too bad if they don't: ever since this white screen problem forced me to buy all my content from Amazon and eMusic, I don't miss the iTunes store all that much any more. Thank you iTunes for forcing me to discover that I can get the same songs you charge $1.29 for at other sites for just $.49 or $.89 cents. And Amazon and eMusic really seem to WANT me to see their store content and use their services. Unlike Apple, which seems to be happy being nothing more than a blank white screen to thousands of its best long-term customers. -
Feb 12, 2011 3:16 PM in response to D_LAW12by wherestynan,Thanks for your reply, i couldn't agree more in that its strange when there are so many alternative ways of downloading music on the internet that I Tunes would make their store more difficult to use . -
Feb 12, 2011 4:14 PM in response to D_LAW12by kzaz,The same thing is happening to me when I try to open my itunes! It completely loads and then disappears and becomes a white screen!
Hoping this will get fixed ASAP!!
