Macbook not charging - new battery, new charger

Hello, I have a macbook that is out of warranty and recently stopped charging ("not charging" displayed next to battery icon).

I bought a new battery and have several magsafe adapters that work with my 13 inch macbook pro so have come to the conclusion that the problem must be inside the macbook.

When a magsafe is plugged in, it doesn't light amber or green but does power the macbook. The lights work perfectly on another machine.

So, Macbook wont charge, new battery, new charger but it does take power. I'd be grateful for any advice.

Thanks, Darren.

Hi I had the same problem with my MacBook also. I believe our computers are comparable in age. I changed the MagSafe power board and it fixed the problem. If you are handy with your computer you may want to go and buy the part from a site like fixit.com. It is not expensive (I believe it was under $50.00). However the time it took me to complete (mostly dismantling and reassembling computer) I would guess the work would cost you a few hundred dollars to get done professionally.

Same issue here but I can't even run my comp on maglite without the battery in. Tried the pram and smc resets to no avail. Took it into the apple store and in wouldn't work using a Different maglite adapter. They say it needs a new mag safe board. The good news is that it's $56.05 including labor. The bad news is it will take them One to three days to get the part. Stay tuned.

I agree if you have done all of this and replaced the DC-IN and still have the issue that it is most likely a logic board. But as long as it is not damaged you can take it to the Apple Store and then have a flat rate repair for $280 for a MacBook and $310 for a MacBook Pro. They will fix anything that is wrong with the computer for that price as long as it does not have damage (liquid, drop, abuse). This will fix your issue. Apple Store takes care of all the shipping out and receiving back, so no shipping cost. $280 plus tax.
