Can't update apps

Since a few days, I am unable to update the apps installed on my iPod Touch 1G.

In the App Store, I select the app that I want to update, and I can see a blue "Update" button (with a small "+" sign in the upper left corner).
I select this button, and it is replaced by a green "Install" button. I select it, and the "Update" button reappears.
Basically the update does not start and I can only flip between the "Update" and "Install" buttons.

I have enough free memory on the device and I am able the install new apps. It's the update that appears to be broken.

Any ideas ?
Thanks

I'm having this problem as well, although I have a 2nd Gen.

No one seems to know anything about this yet. But now it seems obvious it isn't a completely isolated occurrence.
The only thing I think it can be is a problem in the interface with the app store itself. It likely isn't a hardware issue.
Hope it is fixed soon, I'll keep looking in on your thread.

Same here. With a 1G Touch.

I actually updated the iOS to 3.1 so see if that was the problem. Figured they may have dropped support for all but the latest software version. I had been at 3.0 because I didn't want to lose the ability to double-click Home and have the audio controls pop up. So, not too happy. As it seems I may have updated it for nothing.

Have you checked which iOS the App requires? If it now requires anyhting higher than you have, it will not install on your Touch.

it doesn't require anything.

Every App requires a version of iOS to work and every App has its own requirements. If you check in the iTunes Store through your computer's iTunes, you will see what that is.

The requirements are not listed in the mobile App Store, I assume that is because the mobile store only lists Apps that your iPod can use. However, if the App is already installed on your Touch, perhaps you can see the update even though your iPod cannot install it. The only way to confirm that is look in the store from your computer.

Dear Phil,

I do understand that every app has its requirements such as the OS, however the app i need to update is a tested IOS 4 which means that it works fine with ios 4.
to make it clear i am haveing OS 3.1.3 and the app should be updated properly.
I dont want to update all as this is not practical.
by the way from the past i can see the requirements before I install but now I cant. this is so disappointing.
I would really need a solution.

thanks

Same here, folks!

First noticed the "blue/update" "green/install" Do Nothing problem Sun. 2/6/11, & it is still not working through today 2/9/11.

I posted my longer story/description in this thread:

And no way would I use Update All either, & for the same reasons.

Here's hoping Apple gets busy fixing their Update-Apps-One-at-a-Time glitch.
