Feb 6, 2011 8:20 AM in response to jryan555by DesertSage,I have purchased a couple of these from Amazon over the last year.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013OF8LS/ref=ossproducthttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013OF8LS/ref=ossproduct
they have been working fine on all of my iBooks. The price was in the upper $30 range when I purchased them, but now see that there's been an increase. One of the only two reviews you will see is mine.

Feb 6, 2011 9:04 AM in response to ANOVAby DesertSage,Hey ANOVA,
Thanks for the OWC link. I didn't know they carried the original adapter. And with a great price! I would trust OWC to provide a quality product.

Feb 6, 2011 9:52 AM in response to DesertSageby ANOVA,Hello Randy,
I enjoy reading your posts. OWC has always replied to my emails
promptly and thoroughly and with our support they will be around a
long time. I dislike seeing comments like the OP's about not getting
what you pay for.
The OP was looking for an authentic 45W adapter yet it seems that
only authentic 65W adapters are available if you want to buy new. I
have to trust Apple about the different wattage on this one.
Now my appologies to the OP on this threadjacking:
Randy, are you the Randy that wrote an article on hard drives
that explained corruption with:
AAAA BBBB CCCC ?
If so please post a link because I can't find the one that I
thought I had saved.
Kind Regards,

Feb 6, 2011 10:53 AM in response to ANOVAby DesertSage,Thanks ANOVA,
You are too kind.
I know what you mean about the 45w adapters vs the 65w. That is confusing. If you look at the Apple approved adapters for the G4 iBooks (I think the G3 Dual USBs too), all of them I think, it shows nothing but 65w adapters. Maybe 45w just wasn't enough oomph! And yet, Apple still says to always use the charger that came with your computer.
I don't believe it was me who wrote about the HD corruption issue. Maybe? I do remember being involved in a lively discussion about jumper settings awhile back.
Good luck to you,

Feb 11, 2011 9:08 AM in response to DesertSageby jryan555,Thanks, all. The 65W adapter arrived from Amazon yesterday and it works. I assume it's safe for my system, even though the original adapter was a 45W. Appreciate all of your help! -

Feb 16, 2011 6:33 AM in response to ANOVAby DesertSage,You are so welcome.
That is good news. The ones from Amazon also come with the extra power cord. It's nice to have that bonus.

Mar 28, 2014 6:53 PM in response to jryan555by blerfa, jryan, are you still using this power cord? i'm in a similar bind now -- my original cord is 11 years old and somehow i broke the tip of the end that goes into the Mac. if you're not using your cord any more i would like to buy it.
i look forward to hearing from you or anyone else out there who can help. the cord is model number A1036 for an ibook circa 2004; it says 45W but i'm happy to try the 65W cord if it works!
