Can't find authentic Apple 45W portable power adapter (Model A1036)

My replacement power cord is broken, and the online service where I ordered it (1800emart) no longer carries that particular authentic Apple replacement. They sent me a generic one that is NOT compatible with my iBook G4 (Model A1036). There are hundreds listed online that are generics & say they're compatible, but apparently my computer disagrees. Anyone have an idea where I can find an authentic one with a grey cord and the Apple imprint on the block? I'm in a big bind and needed it yesterday. Thanks in advance!

I have purchased a couple of these from Amazon over the last year.

they have been working fine on all of my iBooks. The price was in the upper $30 range when I purchased them, but now see that there's been an increase. One of the only two reviews you will see is mine.

Hello Randy,

I enjoy reading your posts. OWC has always replied to my emails
promptly and thoroughly and with our support they will be around a
long time. I dislike seeing comments like the OP's about not getting
what you pay for.
The OP was looking for an authentic 45W adapter yet it seems that
only authentic 65W adapters are available if you want to buy new. I
have to trust Apple about the different wattage on this one.
Now my appologies to the OP on this threadjacking:
Randy, are you the Randy that wrote an article on hard drives
that explained corruption with:
AAAA BBBB CCCC ?
If so please post a link because I can't find the one that I
thought I had saved.

Kind Regards,

A

Thanks ANOVA,

You are too kind.

I know what you mean about the 45w adapters vs the 65w. That is confusing. If you look at the Apple approved adapters for the G4 iBooks (I think the G3 Dual USBs too), all of them I think, it shows nothing but 65w adapters. Maybe 45w just wasn't enough oomph! And yet, Apple still says to always use the charger that came with your computer.

I don't believe it was me who wrote about the HD corruption issue. Maybe? I do remember being involved in a lively discussion about jumper settings awhile back.

Good luck to you,

Randy

jryan, are you still using this power cord? i'm in a similar bind now -- my original cord is 11 years old and somehow i broke the tip of the end that goes into the Mac. if you're not using your cord any more i would like to buy it.

i look forward to hearing from you or anyone else out there who can help. the cord is model number A1036 for an ibook circa 2004; it says 45W but i'm happy to try the 65W cord if it works!
