Soundtrack Pro cannot be opened

I have just installed Logic Studio and all the updates relating to it. All works except Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1 which will not open. I get the following dialogue box:
"Soundtrack Pro cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Soundtrack Pro works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X." ...and the option to send a report to Apple (did that).

I put the Logic Studio install disc in but Soundtrack Pro is dimmed out.

Any ideas?

I am having this problem as well. The system is a brand new iMac, and I mean brand new, with just the latest OS and the bundled iLife '11 installed. I literally brought my new computer home, set it up, installed Logic Studio 9, and immediately Soundtrack Pro fails to start every time with this same error message. It is very disappointing, especially since there seems to have been no indication from Apple that they are working on the problem.

Has anyone pulled off iLife 11 and reinstalled the logic package?

I have 10.6.6 on one machine with no issue, but no logic or iLife 11. Another machine i just upped to 10.6.6, and haven't tested. It has logic but no ILife at all. The other machines still have 10.6.5.
Our STP is installed as part of FCSVand not from the Logic package.

Try removing iLife and the reinstalling STP

Thanks NLEdit. There must be an issue of some sort ... it can't be coincidence that others have the same issue as me. I think the others with the problem have a new Quad Core iMac, like me. I'm reluctant to pull iLife off just to test this ... even if it is the culprit then Apple will still have to do something. I think Apple should do the full troubleshooting and come up with the solution.

Well, actually it can be a coincidence. We're not even sure that the issues the way they are described are identical. Note the thousands and thousands of users having two or three pop-up with an issue does not necessarily indicate a major problem. So right now it's all conjecture. What we want to do is arrive at a solution the matter what that is. That's what's really important here.

These sorts of things are always caused by some sort of a change. The way we traced the problem is by backtracking and removing or changing back anything that's been changed recently. That's the only way that we can arrive at some sort of resolution. Uninstalling and reinstalling software in this environment is very easy. Especially if one uses applications like digitalrebellion.com's Final Cut Studio maintenance pack, or more general application like CleanApp. reinstalling soundtrack Pro is actually quick and easy if one leaves the sound samples alone.

hi,
same problem, which i was aware of before installing Logic Studio. (iLife11 was blamed)
soo, i wiped the boot that came with my new MacPro 8core, and re-installed just 10.6.5.
no soap. STP and Compressor are greyed out.
the only thing that could have the AIC in it, is QT10.
i believe QT10 cannot be bypassed of install of the OS.
i tried the "terminal" command line but it doesn't work either.
truly, i believe it must be a QT conflict.
please Mr Apple, would you mind fixing this, as i paid out for something that's unusable.
thank you,
j.
