Frozen macbook pro, wont turn off

The screen is frozen blue, with the white and black spinning loading icon. I've tried shortcuts and the power button. But it won't turn off. I've disconnected the power and let it die, but when I plug it back in, it resumes the blue screen. HELPUser uploaded file

Hold the power button down until it goes off (hold it for at least 6 to 8 seconds.)

If it doesn't restart normally after a full power cycle, restart again while holding the shift key to boot into safe mode.

I had let it sleep over night (like I usually do) and when I lifted the lid, my Skype icon was bouncing around because I wasn't connected to the internet, I clicked on it, then the black and white loading icon came up, the screen went black and a white dashed line went halfway across the screen. Then it turned blue and has been like that ever since! And I don't recall any noises

Put in your installation disk and hold the "c" key down and see if you are able to reinstall the software. If everything works find try repeating what happened with your computer and see if it will freeze and the screen will turn black (or whatever color it changes) if it does then their might be something wrong with your graphic card.

If pressing and holding the power button (for 5-10 seconds) does not work, then that means your system management controller (SMC) is in a hang of sorts. If your computer has a removable battery then unplug it from the wall and remove the battery to cut power to the system. Then perform a SMC reset on your system: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
