I was having problems with my HP Officejet 7410 and decided to reinstall it. The wireless connection was established and the software seemed to be installed without any problem. When I got the Printer Setup Utility, I found that it couldn't find the printer driver, so I could not add the printer. I reinstalled everything again and the same thing happens.
How can I correct this problem so I can complete the installation process?
Another thing I just found out is that when I try to select More Printers, Printer Setup Utility crashes. I get the option to reopen or send a report to Apple.
Having the same problem with PB and Photosmart 8250. In printer set up the list of HP drivers won't scroll down far enough to select Photosmart series drivers.
Can't help, but I have the same problem. HP Support got me through the installation, but the Printer Setup Utility crashes everytime I select "More Printers".
To get the HP7410 installation to work, the HP support folks had me remove the loginwindow.plist file from >library>preferences folder. That worked for me.
To solve the Print Utility crashing issue, Apple support made me reinstall OS X from CD and apply all the updates from the web site. It took about 4 hours, but the printer is finally working.
