Where do apps live (memory/disk) - is space an issue?

I am getting my Verizon iPhone today. Before I download a bunch of apps, I'm wondering: do these live in the (32 Gig) main disk, or somewhere else where I have to be worried about space when downloading them?

They live in the 32GB of RAM (which is actually about 27GB free on a 32GB iPhone).

ok, so is it safe to assume I can download pretty much whatever apps I want or are apps actually going to make a significant dent in this resource?

Every app you chose will tell you how much space it will need in the app's description. There are users with literally hundreds of apps on their phones, not to mention thousands of songs & pictures. 32GB's of storage is actually quite large.

It depends on the size of a particular app - how much space a particular app takes up as with any 3rd party app on your computer. Most 3rd party apps aren't that large - they don't take up a significant amount of storage space, but some are large and do such as a GPS navigation app that includes maps data with the app.

It depends what size the Apps are. Most are way less than 100Mb, but some big games, or SatNav apps can be over 1GB.

Also, note that all your music, podcasts, videos etc. also take up this storage space too.

I've got about 230 apps which in total use less than one-third of the total storage space.
