My phone came with some generic account,
There is no such thing. Where did you obtain this phone? Is it used? Sounds like it has another person's content & iTunes account on it. You can't transfer iTunes content to another account. If this content was not obtained using your account, you should: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings(plug into a wall outlet if not a 3GS or iPhone 4). This will return the phone to the state it was in when first removed from the box. Connect to iTunes, name it what you want & sync your content to it.MacBook Pro

These phones are, for obvious reasons, not designed for retail sale. If it is a demo model, some settings & actions will be restricted. In that's the case, you'll want to restore the phone as a new device in iTunes.MacBook Pro
