Unable to enter correct network key

Hi - sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere.

I am having difficulty in entering the correct network key on my iMac which I think is due to not being allowed to enter a '£' in the password.

Has anybody ever had this problem before - is there an easy solution?

Hi,

Yes I have tried copying from a text file but it won't let me paste it into the password file (It will if I don't include the '£').

Also interestingly, I tried going through network setting and using the 'assist me' option. Here it lets me use the '£' sign but it still won't connect to the network. I can't connect using my iPhone either using the same password - I can however connect using my work laptop.

Just for information; the pound sign on my keyboard is obtained using 'shift+3'. 'Option + 3' gives a # symbol.

Richard,

That does present a problem...another thought, perhaps try a different font spec and see if that helps. Since the work laptop connects, maybe there is some problem with the font being used on the iMac and it is not picking up the actually ASCII representation of the Pound Sterling symbol. That is an easy change and if it does work...

Have you by any chance changed keyboards? I had a similar problem trying to type in a password on an English keyboard to an account created while using a German keyboard. I just typed the keys that were in the same physical position on the English keyboard as on the German keyboard. (Both keyboards were the small wireless ones that come standard with newish iMacs.)
