Menu bar dissappears

Hi,

following problem: When I start a movie in quicktime, and the window loses focus, the menu bar disappears and so does the window decoration. However, no matter what I do, it does not appear again, not on focus, not on any short cut combination. Video runs fine, start /stop works with space, but the !@#$ menu bar will not appear. Anyone know anything about this?

Macbook Pro 13", Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Have you tried repairing permissions and restarting your computer?

Repairing permissions of what? The video? no, but the situation is not related to any video, it happens with every video, no matter of format or where it is stored.

Repairing permission of quicktime? no.

Restarting mac - of course, but nothing changes. Let me know what you meant with "reparing permission", I will tray anything, but as it is right now, quicktime is useless for me 😟

Like I said, the most weird thing, the window decoration and menu bar (for play, pause, volume etc) is there when I open a video, but when I push the play button, it dissapears. As far as I know, this is intended. But when I focus the video again, neither the window decoration appears, nor the menu bar.

*Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.* Boot from your install disc & run _*Repair Disk*_ from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select *Disk Utility.*

Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click *First Aid.*
Click _*Repair Disk.*_
Restart your computer when done.

Problem solved. I downloaded tinkertool. There is a checkbox for quicktime concerning my topic. It was unchecked. I checked it, saved, unchecked it saved, now it works.
