Password Protecting Contacts and Color Coding Calendar

I just got an iPhone today and was wondering if there is a way to password protect my contacts. Either all of them or certain records so that I will be prompted for a password before seeing a record (or all records). I had a Palm Centro before this and absolutely loved that feature since I could keep all my passwords in my phone and not have to worry about anyone else accessing them since the file was password protected.

I haven't used the iCal much but is there a way to color code entries by event type (e.g. Birthday, appointment, meeting, etc.) This is another feature that my palm had that I really loved and was hoping I could duplicate it in some way on my iPhone

There is no separate password protection for contacts. There is only the passcode lock for the entire phone.

Color coding of Calendar events is not currently supported.

I suggest you read the [iPhone User Guide|http://manuals.info.apple.com/en US/iPhone_iOS4_UserGuide.pdf] to learn what features the iPhone supports. WYSIWYG - there are no hidden features. The guide is also bookmarked in Safari for a phone formatted version.

If you want features not currently supported, you can suggest them to Apple here:

The answer to your first question is no. You kept your various passwords with your contacts?

Regarding iCal, you can create multiple calendars and have a different color for each. For example I have a Business and a Personal calendar with business and personal events separated. I can view all calendars combined or I can view an individual calendar by itself.

The iPhone includes a Birthdays calendar that is linked to birthday entries for your contacts in Contacts. iCal includes the same linked to birthday entries for your contacts in the Address Book. The iPhone supports syncing calendars/calendar events with iCal and contacts with the Address Book on your Mac.

Thanks for the info. on creating multiple calendars. I guess I will create different calendars for each event type and put them in that way.

I actually kept my passwords in a password protected memo file but was willing to just put them under the notes section for my own contact info in the iPhone.

Just to be clear before I close this topic, none of the iphone built in apps (Notes, iCal, etc,) would allow me to set it so that I am prompted to enter my password before I can access it, right?
