New Verizon Iphone 4 Wont Connect To My WIFI

I'm about to tear my hair out!
I thought I was going to enjoy my new phone playing with it but instead I've spent the past 3 hours trying to connect to my WIFI

I have tried everything, changing to WEP, unpowering and repowering the modem/router, reseting iphone network, updating router firmware, etc

When I connect my internet on my macbook pro it works fine. When I try the key for the iphone it says incorrect password for netgear. I am using an arris triple play modem and a netgear router. The router model is WGR614 v7.

If I can connect with my macbook pro to the netgear network why cant I with my iphone?
The last resort I heard is to restore my iphone completly in itunes but I dont think I want to do that!

Please help,
Thanks

The WGR614v7 is rather old (> 5 years) and it may be the source of your problem. I have a WGR614v10 and have no problem with it. Try your iPhone on some free networks, e.g., Starbuck, Borders, etc. If it works OK there then the problem is with your network (despite the fact that some other devices appear to work with it). I'd replace the WGR614v7 with something new.

If your iPhone doesn't work on other networks then it has a problem and needs replacement. Contact your Apple store or call Apple support: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/contact/

Hey everyone,

Ok So I went to my friends house and tried connecting to his wifi and it worked!

So I'm assuming it's my router at home. Is it too old?

I don't think it's the modem but I am gonna give the model anyway.

The modem is Arris model TM602G/115.

The router is Netgear WGR614 v7

Is my router the explanation? If so that stinks cause then Im out 60 bucks haha

And if it is the router...is there any driver thing to work around it? If not any suggestions on great workin routers at affordable prices

thanks

DD-WRT is a third party firmware you might want to try. It looks like they support the same router model you have except they only confirm version 4, 6, and 8. Not 7. I don't see why it wouldn't work though. If I were in your shoes, I would give it a try. It's a gamble though. You never know what you're gonna get. The worst that could happen is you might brick your router.

See the site:

I can think of a reason that it won't work. It is on the list of incompatible routers. See http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Knownincompatible_devices#List_of_IncompatibleDevices
