I just got the iPhone on Verizon and got everything set up yesterday evening. I have a .mac mail account and set that up automatically. My email is set to "Push" and I thought that would mean that I would get the email on my phone shortly after it was received on the server. The only way I get mail is when I open the mail app on the phone. Any ideas as to why this is and what can be done to correct this?
Just found the same issue on my new Verison iPhone. My phone just updated to iOS 4.2.6, but still the same. Not just not getting push notification. Email will coming in very late even when I tried to check manually.
I'm having the same issue.
I receive NO notification that I've received an email. No red icon/badge, no sound, no vibration. Like you, I have to open the mail app to check for new email.
I have an iPod touch (with the same settings as the phone) and it behaves just fine.
The problem seems to be confined to email; I am notified when a text message arrives.
Verizon was unable to help. Apple Tech support had me restore the settings, but that didn't do the trick, either. I've made an appointment for the Genius Bar tomorrow morning. If I learn anything, I'll let you know.
I am having the exact same problem with my gmail account on the verizon iphone. My email is also sent to push but I have to go into the mail server for it to load my emails instead of them automatically being sent to my phone like I thought they were suppose to do. Hopefully verizon/apple will have some answers soon!
Although for my username I used only the first part of my username and did not add the @gmail.com and it worked fine! Hope this works for you guys too!!
Thanks, but my email is part of my .mac account. I don't want to route it through Gmail, and I shouldn't have to! It's supposed to work with the iPhone.
I receive notifications on my iPod Touch, but not my Verizon iPhone. Very frustrating. Hoping the Genius Bar lives up to its name.
Same problem here. Got verizon iphone two days ago, set up google apps email with exchange (suppose to be push), it worked for about one hour and now the emails do not come in (it can take hours), eve when youcheck manually emails still do not come to the iphone. The emails are in my account on my computer but do not come on verizon iphone. I spoke wiyh a friend who has att iphone and he said that when googke syn started two years ago they had this problem but had it fixed right away, he has been using exchange with gmail for his att iphone for years with push email working perfactly......NEED HELP ASAP (otherwise will have to go back to my blackberry)
I also have the same issue. Got my verizon iPhone 4 yesterday. I use google apps business to host my email. Exchange setup not pushing mail to phone and also manual does not work either. At some point mail does come down but in most cases its hours later. I also have another business exchange account set up not with google and push mail is working good. I get new mail in seconds. The Exchange push issue must be with just google in my case.
Same thing with my wife's new Verizon iPhone-push e-mail isn't working. Not for .mac. Not for gMail. Just chatted with MobileMe support, and it was not helpful. They think it's the phone. How did the genius bar appt go?
I am going through the same thing. I used to get my gmail e-mails to my motorola droid instantly. However now there is a delay in getting the e-mail sent over even when using exchange. It is frustrating because even when I open the mail application, it still does not receive the e-mail I got right away. I have tried this several times by using my other e-mail to my gmail with no luck. Verizon suggested I go to Apple. Any suggestions on how to fix this??
I feel like the phone isn't really meeting my expectations.
