"Checking iTunes Library" on iTunes start (5-10 minutes)

Whenever I start iTunes, I get a checking iTunes Library dialog for 5-10 minutes. I don't get this error on my MacBook with a similar sized library (128 GB).

Anything I can do to get rid of the wait?

Win 7 PC, Windows 7, 64 bit

See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows in case they need tweaking again.

You may want to exclude the iTunes folder from any real time anti-virus scanning. These, and media scanning software such as that typically supplied with Sony VIAO computers can disrupt iTunes when it is updating the library which can trigger an empty/corrupt library or apparently unnecessary checks of the database.
