Verizon iPhone- battery life

So I received my iPhone from Verizon on Monday. Everything has been great so far but the battery life has been pretty bad. Has anyone else with a Verizon iPhone noticed this yet? Or is this also a problem on AT&T, as well? It's been lasting about a day, tops. And I've been conscience about closing out apps when not using them (which I've been told doesn't really do much), and even disabling wifi unless I really need it.

I too have noticed a severe issue with the battery of this phone. As an experience smartphone user of both the AT&T iPhone 4 and Blackberry phones on VZW this model is not even coming in close to an acceptable battery life.

I followed the recommended solutions provided by Apple ( http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html) and I would literally be doing backflips right now if I saw anywhere close to up to 7 hours talk time.

I have restored the phone back to factory settings thinking maybe it was something I did, ran the phone for a day with just the SMS/Phone features and the apps it was pre-installed with and the same lousy results. Ran the phone down below 20% to ensure a full charge, 100% at 7am and by 10am it was already seeing 80% from just light usage.

This was with push notifications off, location services off, vibrate off, sounds off, screen brightness at about 60%, game center disabled via restrictions, BT disabled, Wi-Fi was on but it was set to not search for new networks, auto-lock on after 1 minute.

I am literally doing nothing on this phone and watching the battery life go down. Apple seems to want to just brush this aside right now from the responses I received in store and Verizon keeps saying its possibly a software (4.2.6 8E200) issue. Either way this completely ***** and I hope to find a solution soon because the phone is awesome in every other way.

I'm confused--so every time I use one of those apps it stays on unless I manually turn it off by making the icons wiggle?

No. http://whenwillapple.com/blog/2010/04/19/iphone-os-4-multitasking-explained-agai n/

It woulda been nice if they'd included an instruction booklet!

It a bookmark in Safari on your iPhone and here... http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_iOS4_UserGuide.pdf

Same here - I really haven't set up any complicated battery sucking situations on my new iphone and don't really use it for much other than texting and some calls. I WANT to use it for more but so far the battery won't tolerate that. I really don't want to have to charge it at 3pm!

This is a verizon iphone. any chance that that is the issue??

Oh. I read the posted article and turned everything off. We will see how it goes for the next 24 hours...

I don't believe that this has anything to do with Verizon vs AT&T... I knew going in that my new iPhone would not have the battery life of my old phone. I've heard complaints about the battery life in the past, and I definitely notice it myself now that I actually have one.

Obviously, reading the documents that have already been mentioned will help, but for those who simply use their phones too heavily, get a car charger, a dock or plug for your desk at work, etc, and keep it charging as often as possible.

Its always a good idea when you first get the phone to "callibrate" the battery. Meaning the first few times let it drain fully before charging it again, let it drain, charge fully. That can help. The batteries are made to be charged whenever but its a good idea to do this, especially after you just get the phone. Being an iPhone user for two years now and just recently got a new one, I've come to accept the fact that I have to charge my phone every day, not every two days like I used to before I got a smartphone. I just always have my charger with me..lol

Same here. Got mine Monday too. Fully charged and let fully drain. Barely get a day out of it (iPhone 4 Verizon). I had a iPhone 3G with ATT couple years ago and had same Exchange and Gmail accounts setup and always got at least 1.5 days, so all I had to do was charge nightly. With this new one, I'm barely scoring a day out of the battery. Find myself not using for some things due to don't want to have to charge before end of day. Really ***** to have to go thru this. Very unimpressed at this point with this new phone.

I got my iPhone on Monday (02/07/11) and with its default settings I get 11.5 hours of total usage. I called Verizon wireless and then was transferred to Apple. Apple suggested I pay $99 for applecare for "free" advance replacement or $30 for shipping and handling for a refurbished iPhone to be sent to me for my defective iPhone. I am disappointed with this iPhone and with Apples customer service suggestion. I will be returning this product for my samsung flip phone.

I backed up an AT&T iPhone and restored to a Verizon iPhone - the battery on the Verizon model is draining about 20-25% faster. I hear the Verizon model has both GSM and CDMA radios, although obviously only CDMA is compatible with the network. My guess is that is the reason for the battery issue, but it's just a guess. See this post for more info on the radios: http://www.electronista.com/articles/11/02/07/ifixit.deconstructs.cdma.iphone.fo r.verizon/

Just as a quick note - the iphone ships with a lithium polymer battery. You should NOT have to calibrate this battery. The memory effect should also not apply. These batteries should be able to sustain thousands of charge-discharge cycles. I do not think a calibration would have an affect on this issue. But I could be wrong.

I received my Verizon iPhone on Monday, the 7th. I am also concerned about battery life. I have turned everything off, no pushes except for my work email, and turn off all porgrams and wi-fi when I am not at home. After a full night's charge, I am at about 20% by 6 pm. I really do not want to charge this twice a day. I am thinking about going to the local Verizon store in a week or so to see if there are similar complaints.
