Call Waiting and Call Forwarding

I searched this query, but could not find anything ...

Does anybody know how to enable Call Waiting and Call Forwarding on the Verizon iPhone?

I have an AT&T version, and under Settings > Phone, I have a toggle switch for Call Waiting and Forwarding but the Verizon phone does not?

Going to Settings->Phone->Verizon Services has an option to disable call forwarding with *73. This sort of implies there is a keypress to activate it. You may try the VZ website and see what they say. I bet it may be a VZ thing.

The ATT GSM phones are completely different but they are documented in google via GSM CALL FORWADING.

Might try CDMA CALL FORWARDING.

Post back if you find out.

from the manual

On a CDMA model, you turn call forwarding on or off by dialing special codes.
Turn on call forwarding (CDMA model): Enter *72 on the Phone keypad, followed by
the number you’re forwarding calls to, then tap Call.
Turn off call forwarding (CDMA model): Enter *73 on the Phone keypad, then tap Call.

I'm wondering this myself. Call forwarding I understand, it's much more "elegant" on ATT, but call waiting doesn't work for me at all on Verizon. If I get a call while on a call, it' beeps in, but there is no way to answer one call and hang up on the other. If I hit end call on the first call, it ends both calls "multiple calls ended". There is no end call and answer option, if I put one call on hold it will switch over, but will not hang up the other line.

I just got the iphone 4 from Verizon and noticed this too. I thought I was crazy so I dug deeper and went to Verizon to get help all to find out they dont know. I called Apple and they said that it was a glitch in the phone for verizon an was told to post on here bc this is where they look to see whats wrong with the phone and then they can create a software update and correct the problem. I love the phone other than this issue it really bothers me but so far this is the only issue I have found.

I have no problems with call waiting on my Vzw iPhone. If I am talking to someone and another call comes in, I get the option to put the first caller on hold and answer the second call, or I can hit end call and about two seconds later the phone will ring again and I can answer it and talk to the second caller. If this was a software issue, it would happen on all the Vzw iPhones not just yours.

You just said it does it to your phone so its not just my verizon phone???? Find someone that has the AT&T iphone 4 and they have the option at the bottom where verizon's says end call theres says end and answer.... Oh yeah and go to your settings on your phone and then go to phone and see if you can see the option for call waiting? Yep not there!User uploaded file AT&T has it on the iphone 4 so yeah that wouls be a software problem on all iphone 4 for verizon!

You should read the manual. Call Waiting is on by default with the Verizon iPhone.

Actually, that was not true in the case of the Verizon iPhone we just got. Out of the box, callers were sent straight to VM if we were on the phone already. But ... a quick call to Verizon and they activated the feature and there's been no problems since.

One key difference between the AT&T and Verizon phone is that on the AT&T phone, when you drop the second call by hitting "end", it appears to disconnect, but as somebody else said, the phone then rings and you can speak with the original caller again. A little odd until you get used to it -- makes you think you dropped the call.

On the AT&T phone, as soon as you drop the second call, the screen flips and you are immediately taken back to the first caller.

We can't imagine ever using Call Forwarding, so I am not overly concerned about that feature.

I do find it odd that the AT&T phones have a switch in the settings pane that allow you to toggle call waiting on or off, whereas the Verizon phone does not.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply.

I have the Verizon iphone 4s I purchased directly from the Apple Store
and am having problems with call waiting also. so I did a google search

and all I found was this article

http://support.apple.com/kb/TA38607?viewlocale=en_US

but soon discovered this article is OUT OF DATE!

The iphone 4s does NOT have a SWAP or MERGE CALL button! anywhere on the screen
or anything even remotely close to it, during two calls.

Also Mark is WRONG when he says "the end call button hangs up on one caller and the other caller calls back in 2 seconds" that is FALSE!

whenever I am in a call waiting call, when I press "END CALL" it hangs up on BOTH calls!

his party must be calling back because on MY phone, end call hangs up on BOTH parties!

THe thing that bugs me, is when I'm in a call, and someone else calls, say they talk and hang up,

well when that party hangs up, it doesn't hang up on my end, and since there's no swap button

on the screen anywhere, I have to press "end call" which hangs up on the previous caller.

drives me freaking nutts!!

Apple please fix this! its driving me crazy!!!! My fiance' gets mad at me every time this happens

you know how girlfriends are, they get mad at you if you hang up on them even if it wasn't your fault.

hehehehe

Apple please fix this!!! It is driving me crazy. I conduct a lot of business over my phone and this happens every single time someone calls me and I try to switch over. It never switches over. The other side will be dead silent and as I go back to the original caller it hangs up.

Called Verizon to try and troubleshoot issue, but they said it is working just fine (it happens every time). Reset networking settings and still happening. Support at Verizon did say they were getting a lot of calls for the same issue.

This is negatively affecting my business. Please help!
