Apple products won't connect to my interwebz

I have a 13in macbook pro, 16gb iPad, and a new Verizon iPhone and I have the worst problems with wireless internet connections on all of them. I had a linksys router a wrt160n i believe which had problems and I have a netgear now that I'm using. Both of them have the same problem and give me spotty internet signal. My sisters windows laptop connects all the time no problems. Xbox connects no problems. Blue-ray player connects and stream netflix with no problems. Just apple products it seems. Is there a setting that I can change. As we speak now when I put the password in on my macbook it gets a connection timeout. My iPad and iPhone just say unable to connect to my wireless access point. Please help I'm so tired and frustrated. I don't believe it would be my ISP due to the fact I'm not having any problems with my wired lines and my other wireless connections. 😟

O this is just another thing that I need help with, my macbook wont update the firmware update. It downloads and installs then when it reboots and starts makes the sound then just reboots again and says that the firmware update is available for download and installation again.

I've tried 2 different routers both trying bands 1,6, and 11. It use to be a spotty connection but now it's gotten to the point were it just won't connect flat out. I've power cycled my modem and router hundreds of times now. I can't go to a genius bar because there gonna say if im having a problem with all of the devices then the problem is on my end. I call time warner cable (which I did this morning) and there trying to tell me that everything is fine as far as the modem goes (but they are coming out to take a look at it). According to I stumble Im getting like a 52 percent signal strength from it and its only two rooms away and im getting 17 percent noise interruption. Also, I never have any problems connecting other places such as work, starbucks, barnes & nobels.

Try connecting your modem directly to your MacBook via ethernet, see if it works then. If it does, we can begin narrowing down where the problem is. If this doesn't work, we can assume it's a setting on your Mac.

If it works connecting directly to your modem, then try connecting to your router via ethernet. If this doesn't work and the previous step did, we can assume it's a router issue.

I'm using a wpa2 personal security protocol. Other than that it's pretty much just stock settings out of the box. No port forwarding or static ip's. Everything is dynamic and the router is supposed to be doing everything. I'm almost wondering if the router is having trouble assigning IP's to the apple devices. But I don't get how that would happen for both routers the linksys and netgear. Or if it's just a modem issue.

The fact that ethernet through the router tells me that it has to be a wireless setting and the problem is in the router. We've basically eliminated all the other possibilities, right?

What you could try is going into your router settings, and try playing with different broadcast modes. Such as 802.11b/g only, 20/40MHz bandwidth, etc.

If you have Ethernet, there's no reason you shouldn't have WiFi. Unless there's a setting within the modem that prevents WiFi, although I'm VERY skeptical of this, I suppose anything is possible.

I'll believe anything right now. I'll try and go play with freq and modes now. Just went back and restored the router to factory again. Picked up wifi for a few mins when it was set with no password and just named netgear. Then I changed the name and password and lost signal and can't connect again. So I reset to factory again. Couldn't connect again. Then reset it again and made it a non-broadcasted ssid and just named it and I can't connect that way either.
