How do I set a ringtone purchased in iTunes as a optional ringtone?

I just purchased a new iPhone 4 and bought a ringtone in iTunes. It sync'ed without a problem but when I look in my iPhone, the ringtone is in the iPod folder and not in "Ringtones". I'm not sure how to get it as an available ringtone.

Browse to your iTunes music folder. You should find the new clip in the same folder the full-length song is in. Notice that the clip has an extension of .m4a. Simply rename the extension to .m4r, then select it. It will automatically be added as a ringtone in your iTunes library.

Make sure you are syncing Ringtones via iPhone.

If you purchased a ringtone from the iTunes music store with iTunes on your computer, is the ringtone available when selecting Ringtones under Library in the iTunes source list?

If so, you have Sync Ringtones selected under the Ringtones tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and this ringtone is available and selected below?

Got same problem, its already in ringtone menu in itunes, i sync`ed my iphone 4, i saw that it was synced, but its not appears on phone, anyone know the solution ?

Exact same problem. I have three ringtones checked to sync in iTunes, but only two are showing up on the phone. For some reason the third ringtone has disappeared from the phone after the last software update, but is showing up in iTunes. Please help anyone. thanks in advance!

Plug in iPhone
"Tones" tab above
Sync Tones (ALL)
If you have "Sync checked songs" be sure it's selected on the Ringtones tab of iTunes.
