I have had my apple TV set up for about a month now and had airplay working great from both my iPhone 4 as well as my wife's iPhone 4. now when we select airplay the sound does not come through... the airplay icon shows up on the iPhone and the i can select the appleTV from the menu but no music nothing is transfered to the tv.

Anyone have some ideas?

I have the same problem. Just noticed it today. I've rebooted all devices including the router.

    Anyone know what's causing this?

I too am having this issue from 2 iPhone's to my Apple TV. This has happened numerous times. Usually rebooting iPhone does the trick. Nothing seems to resolve the issue now.

We are having this issue in our house with an iPhone 3GS, an iPhone 4, an AppleTV 2, and an AirPort Extreme base station.

Airplay for both iTunes and Pandora was working great for weeks, but sometime in the last week or so (around the time of the iOS update?) AirPlay has become very choppy if it plays at all.

All devices are updated to their latest respective Firmware/OS, and all devices have been rebooted simultaneously (more than once now). Router is 20 feet or less from all devices in question and, according to Airport Utility, all are receiving a strong signal.

    Any insight/ideas appreciated.

I've been having the exact same problem. It all worked properly when I first set everything up, but for the last week or so, nothing. I have tried AirPlay from my iPhone 4 and from my iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my AppleTV. The AppleTV shows up as an option on AirPlay, but it will not play over it. At forst, it played, then it would play but constantly cut off, now it does nothing. This is why I bought the AppleTV! I can't use it for anything at this point. Can anyone at Apple tell me what is going on and fix this?! Obviously I'm not the only one having these problems.

Having the same problem with Apple TV 2.  It shows up in iTunes on my MacBook Pro but it will never connect to it.  Sometimes there's an error message, sometimes there isn't.  What gives, Apple???

I've been having the same problems for the last couple of months. I can play on apple TV for just a split second and then it cuts out. I cannot airplay to my airport speakers either. Did you ever find a solution to your problem?

    Peter.

I have the same problem from my macbook pro but only on wireless.

My son's iPod connects to airplay. Same router.

The problem used to go away after turning wifi on/off.

Sometimes it happened only after logging back on from powersaver.

It seems worse after the last iTunes update so I thought that may be a good place to start looking but reinstall did not change anything.

Next maybe I need to find out where iTunes gets its settings I suppose as I doesn't look like the app.

I fixed the problem. It was my wireless router. I added my airport express to my wireless router with a cable. Now the wifi signal is sent around the house with the airport express. No problems now. Maybe the problem would be fixed with a new router.
