I have enabled my iPhone as a hotspot, I have wifi enabled, when I try to connect to the iPhone's hotspot from my laptop, I cannot seem to connect with the password I have setup on the phone. Is this hotspot WPA or WPA2, data encryption type TKIP or AES? Or something else? Also the SSID shows up with strange characters "pmlaw’s iPhone", maybe this is the problem.
Update: It's not the special character problem, I removed the ' from my name that was causing the stranger characters in the SSID, now I have it set as PMLAW_iPhone and it shows correctly in SSID, still unable to connect.
I am having a similar issue. If I tether using the USB cable I can conect to the personal hotspot. But if I use the wifi (mine also has those odd characters) it will try to login and then the phone drops the PC.
i am having the same issue. i can connect by USB not by wireless hotspot. i was on the phone with verizon for almost an hour. sent me to apple and they said to try a different computer. i tried my husbands laptop, worked fine. has anyone else tried a different laptop and gotten the same results. getting back on the phone with apple. ie: my laptop connects fine with my wireless router in my home.
